LAST would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family and community of the victims of last night’s fatal vehicle attack. As a community we mourn the four who were killed, and the injury done to the nine year old boy who was hospitalized. We are horrified at this act of hatred against Muslims which has occurred in our city. While we are not shocked that hatred exists in our city; we have seen its seeds; such violence does not lose its horror. Words cannot describe the grief and anger that this terrible attack brings in its wake.
We stand in solidarity with those Londoners bearing the grief of this atrocity, and those who are now experiencing fear in the aftermath of this attack. We also strongly denounce the Islamophobic hatred that has been allowed to grow in some dark corners of our society. We call for increased awareness of online radicalization. All of us in London need to take a stance against Islamophobia wherever we encounter it.
In Love and Solidarity,
Manidoo Makwa Kwe (Website and Social Media Co-ordinator),
and the LAST executive council.
